Is embroidery a dying art?

Nay nay, I say.  It is experiencing a one-woman revival here in apartment 2B.  Behold some of my recent handiwork.  Seriously, embroidery is so ridiculously simple that a hamster with only slightly better than average dexterity could do it.  If you can trace a picture, color inside the lines, and sew a button, you can embroider.  I downloaded a bunch of fonts to my computer, cool Jugendstil and Arts and Crafts-style ones from the last century, and have begun going to town.  I haven't figured out how to post more than one photo per post yet, but I'll try.

  1. This is lovely! And welcome to blogging. I'm sick and awake in the middle of the night, and so I have the dubious opportunity to be your very first commenter.

You'll get the hang of blogging quickly, I've no doubt. Flickr is an easy way to manage pictures for a blog. You upload there, then click All Sizes above the photo you want to use. Choose Medium (or Small or whatever size you want), then copy/paste the HTML code right into your blog post in your Blogger dashboard. You can share those pictures on Flickr, too, or you can make them private - whatever you want.

    OK, back to bed!

  2. I'm so impressed! I really like that piece. I have bought embroidery supplies TWICE and still have not embroidered anything. And now that I've written embroidery a few times I'm thinking of that beautiful aria, and now I'm drifting to Aldeburgh...
